HEAT REDUCTION

Many buildings new and old suffer from heat build – up & temperature imbalances. Commercial Window film application is a practical and efficient option to correct this by preventing heat build – up and creating even comfort throughout your office or home space. In addition balancing the inside temperature will considerably reduce the need for air conditioning, reducing running costs, extending the life of your air-conditioning unit and reducing your carbon footprint.

Various window films are available to control solar heat including performance reflectives, subtle neutrals for listed & heritage buildings and the latest spectrally selective, nanotechnology and ceramic-based films for virtually undetectable appearance.

Window films allow you to comply with the Health and Safety requirement to control the solar radiation in the workplace in a safe and cost efficient way.

We also supply speciality tints such as UV Clear, DermaShield and CoolKote for polycarbonate roofs.

Here we applied 20% mirror safety film to roof panes at a nursery school to reduce heat and provide safety over the children’s heads.

Below are some photos of a project we did to protect a fish tank from UV rays which can cause a build up of algae. The solution we installed was a 60% neutral UV tint on the roof lantern and the bifolding doors.

HOW IT WORKS

Solar radiation from the sun is divided into 3 components; visible light we can see, and infrared and ultraviolet rays which we can only feel. As solar radiation strikes a piece of glass, window film acts as a “sunscreen” to block harmful UV rays as well as regulates the levels of heat and light passing through the glass. The amount of heat and light rejected is all dependent on the type of window film selected.

GLARE PROTECTION

To reduce glare from the sun (especially in winter months when the sun is low), we apply a 5% neutral film to a pane glass.

Here is an example where we reduced the glare in a school hall.

MIRROR FILM GLARE & HEAT PROTECTION

Where a school hall was in direct sunlight, the heat and glare were distracting and a causing a problem year round. To reduce the issue, we applied an external mirror film to the windows, dramatically reducing both heat and glare for the pupils and staff alike.
